Cutcliffe offered job, expected to accept

Duke might have it's man.

According to this report in the Knoxville News, Tennessee OC David Cutcliffe has been offered the Duke head coaching job and is expected to accept the offer.

I'm going to hold back on my opinion on this one until it becomes more official and I hear him at the press conference, but on the surface it looks like a decent hire. What do you think?

Can't complain, although I still think that Broadway would have been the best bet.

He is a proven winner with good experience. Definitely a step up.

In the end, I think this is just about as good of a hire as Duke could have made. I think he's got a great football mind, and with the right staff around him (read: one that will be relentless on the recruiting trail), this could be the guy that turns the program around. Banner day for Duke football in my opinion.

Cutcliffe's success hinges on whom he hires as defensive coordinator, recruiting coordinator, and offensive line coach. I sure hope the search committee evaluates who he has in mind for these positions.

Cutcliffe won't come cheap--he made , 1.2M as head coach at Ole Miss. Is Duke willing to pay at least 2.5M for Cutcliffe and his staff?

Cutcliffe allegedly turned own NC State last year after interviewing for their head coach position. Tennessee fans claim he loves Knoxville and he is using Duke to up his salary at Tennessee. He apparently has a highly-regarded freshman quarterbackcoming in next year..

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
